ABOUT US
Casa del León
Strength that doesn't need to prove its size.
Some dogs accompany you. And then there are those who become part of your story.
At Casa del León we combine the majestic appearance, balanced temperament and nobility of the Leonberger with respect for its nature.
Our dogs are members of our family, companions in everyday life and, at the same time, successful representatives of their breed.
Our philosophy
Health
Responsible breeding and health testing.
Temperament
Balanced and stable family dogs.
Quality
Focus on the breed standard, conformation and pedigree.
Family
A dog as a true member of the family.
The Leonberger
A majestic appearance, calm nature, intelligence and a strong bond with people make the Leonberger an exceptional family companion.
Origin
The breed was created in the 19th century in Leonberg, Germany. Its founder Heinrich Essig wanted a dog resembling the lion in the town's coat of arms.
Appearance
A large, well-balanced dog with a lion-like mane, a black mask and a long double coat in shades of lion yellow, red or reddish brown.
Temperament
Calm, confident and friendly. Sensitive to the family's mood, patient with children and at the same time a watchful guardian.
Health
For a large breed, responsible breeding is essential – hip and elbow screening, genetic testing and sensible growth of the puppy.
Care
The rich coat needs regular brushing, more often during shedding. Leonbergers love water, exercise and the company of their people.
Who is it for
For families with the time, space and wish to share every day with their dog. It thrives best in a house with a garden, close to its people.
